Starting With The Basics: Urban Decay

Last year (how weird is it to say that?!) I attended a fabulous VIP event at the new Urban Decay store in Liverpool where I got the Ultimate Basics palette and fell in love! So I thought I would share this beautiful palette and some swatches with all you lovelies as I feel everyone needs a matte palette like this in their life!

Way back when the first Naked palette came out, we all ran out, purchased it and fell promptly in love. That included me as well! My only quip was that nearly all the shades had shimmer or glitter in them. In comes the Naked Ultimate Basics palette, an all-matte palette. Between the two, I have the perfect combination of matte and shimmer shades!

Can we all take a minute to appreciate how beautiful this packaging is?! Among all the Urban Decay palettes that I've seen this has got to be one of the prettiest and most unique packaging I have ever seen. It's a stunning almost rose gold (well that's what I see whenever I look at it!) with a starburst style radiating from the middle outwards. Inside are 12 gorgeous neutral shades that are made to work universally for everyone, 6 cool toned and 6 warm toned. Each shadow also has a special pigment infusion system which means that every shadow you use has a velvety texture with amazing staying power.

*Please excuse my swatches, it was my first time doing makeup swatches with my new camera. It definitely needs to be on a tripod next time!!

The top row of the palette is on the cooler side with shades Blow (a light nude demi-matte), Nudie (soft pink-nude), Commando (light taupe-brown), Tempted (pale brown), Instinct (medium pink-taupe) and Lethal (reddish brown).

The bottom row of the palette is on the warmer side with shades Pre-Game (pale yellow), Extra Bitter (brunt orange), Faith (medium warm brown), Lockout (rich neutral brown), Magnet (smoky grey) and Blackjack (warm black).

I am completely in love with this, it has become my go-to palette on a daily basis. Between my Naked palette and my Ultimate Basics palette, I've got an endless combination of eyeshadow looks that are perfect for me!

Speak to you next time!
