My Career Goals

In the next month or two I start job hunting for my registered nurse position, so I thought I would write about what my career goals are for about the next 10 years-ish. I also thought it would be a great way to look back in years to come to re-motivate myself if I ever feel like I've lost my way!

My Goals:

  • Get my first band 5 RN post (hopefully in cardiology) ~ This one I will complete in the next year and I will keep you guys updated with it throughout the year!
  • Get my Masters ~ The hospital I am aiming to get a job at offer a masters in cardio-thoracic (I think that's the title, I could be completely wrong!). I am aiming to get a masters.....I'm not entirely sure how this one will go!
  • Become a mentor ~ I have had some amazing mentors during my nursing degree and it has totally motivated me to want to become a mentor for other student nurses!
  • Become a cardiac nurse practitioner ~ This is one of my long-term career goals that I am going to be continually working on and striving for throughout my nursing career.

They are my top career goals, I think it's probably best to not to try and give myself too many career goals that it becomes too overwhelming and I don't get any completed!

What are your goals for your career?

Being a nurse means to hold all your own tears and start drawing smiles on people's faces. ~ Dana Basem

  1. Good sharing, as frontline supporters in the healthcare industry, nurses play an important role in monitoring and preserving a patient’s health in addition to providing medical help to doctors. Now Sunway Medical Centre is offering nursing courses scholarship for its diploma and degree programs, read more at:
